My niece's graduation lunch - Jojo's

To celebrate my niece's graduation, we went to Jojo's Cafe in Nedlands.

Veal. This dish was excellent.

Fish.

February 2008 - Family Dinner in Perth

The family had a dinner in February when other members of the family visited from Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Penang) and Pakistan. It was a pot luck dinner where each of us made a dish.

The host frying his famous Penang Char Keow Teow.

My Japanese sister in law made some sushi

More sushi

We even made "muar chi." This is one of Penang's many snack food. In Penang one can find a few stalls selling this in Gurney Drive.

Inchi Kabin (spiced fried chicken). A specialty of Penang.

Poh Piah. Unfortunately, we cannot get the authentic poh piah skin so we substituted it with spring roll skin. Not as good but suffice.

The night ended with a selection of cakes and local seasonal fruit.

There were more food than is shown here but the photographer got carried away eating and missed a few.

Saturday Lunch at Meads South Perth

Fish and Chips $34.40

Crab and Fish Spagettini $30.10

Chicken Nugget from Kids menu for my daughter $10.21

Oysters Natural. Half Dozen $15.05

We decided to have a nice Saturday lunch at Meads Oyster Bar in South Perth. The restaurant was uncharacteristically quiet for a Saturday afternoon. The food was as usual up to par. If you are wondering about the unusual price of the items, it's because they have a 7.5% surcharge on weekends. A lot of places do that now but it's kinda sucks as restaurants are supposed to be mostly for weekends. Yet you get slugged..

Fantastic Food in Teluk Intan, Malaysia

Sugar Cane Drink. 100% sugar but very refreshing.

Mud Crab. Notice the roe. Yummy..

Steamed Promfret.

Sweet and Sour Chicken. For the children.

We went on a family vacation in December. Visited KL, Phuket, Teluk Intan and Penang. Of the food in all those places, I still think Penang has the best and cheapest. This lunch in Teuk Intan stood out though. Cost around RM140, about A$50. Phuket is getting quite pricey.
